Huskies Clash in Non-Conference Tilt at Parsons Field
BROOKLINE, Mass. (Interstat) — A unique battle of Huskies is set for Tuesday evening when Connecticut visits Northeastern for a non-conference baseball game at Parsons Field.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature near 66 degrees.
Both teams enter with 14-win records, though Northeastern (14-12) holds a slightly better winning percentage than Connecticut (14-15). The game is a final tune-up before each squad opens its respective conference slate later this week.
Connecticut looks to rebound from a 6-1 home loss to Xavier on Sunday. A key performer for the visiting Huskies will be right-hander Oliver Pudvar. The pitcher has experienced recent volatility, tossing 6 1/3 no-hit innings with five strikeouts in a loss at Portland on March 15, but lasting just three innings in his most recent start against Xavier, allowing seven hits and two earned runs.
Northeastern aims to bounce back from a high-scoring, 11-10 road loss at Hofstra on Sunday. The home Huskies will rely on first baseman Matt Brinker, who powered the offense in that defeat, going 2 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs. Brinker has driven in nine runs over his last eight games.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, this Huskies duel projects to be a close one, with a predicted final score of Connecticut 6, Northeastern 5.
Following this matchup, Connecticut returns home to open a three-game series against Creighton beginning Thursday. Northeastern remains at Parsons Field to start a three-game set with Monmouth on Thursday.
