Hurricanes Rally Past Owls in High-Scoring Affair

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (Interstat) — The Miami Hurricanes used a six-run second inning to erase an early deficit and outslugged the Florida Atlantic Owls 10-6 on Tuesday night at Mark Light Field.

The Owls struck first, but Miami responded forcefully in the second, capitalizing on key hits from Daniel Dubovik and Blake Sosa to tie the game. The Hurricanes took the lead for good with a three-run fourth, highlighted by Alonzo Alvarez’s two-run single. Florida Atlantic’s Patrick Ward hit a two-run homer in the fourth, but the Owls grounded into two double plays and could not complete the comeback.

Miami pitchers TJ Coats and Jake Dorn each threw two scoreless innings of relief to stifle the Owls’ offense. Florida Atlantic’s Zach Kilby also provided two hitless innings in relief. The Hurricanes improved to 19-6, while the Owls fell to 14-11.
