Charlotte Routs Queens Behind Early Barrage, Hudson’s Homer
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Interstat) — The Charlotte 49ers scored four first-inning runs and never looked back, cruising to an 11-1 victory over the Queens Royals on Tuesday at Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium.
Charlotte sent nine batters to the plate in the opening frame, capitalizing on an RBI single from Carson Gunderson, a run-scoring groundout by Reid Nedry, a wild pitch and an error. Todd Hudson later launched a two-run homer to left center in the fifth inning to cap the scoring.
Mitchell Basterrechea provided the lone highlight for Queens, hitting a solo home run in the fourth. The Royals managed just two hits total. Charlotte improved to 16-9, while Queens fell to 6-18.
