Stony Brook at Siena
ALBANY, N.Y. (Interstat) — The Siena Saints will host the Stony Brook Seawolves in a non-conference rematch Tuesday afternoon at Siena Baseball Field, looking to sweep the season series after a high-scoring win earlier this month.
First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature near 37 degrees.
The Saints (7-13) defeated the Seawolves (4-16) 14-8 on March 10 in Stony Brook. Siena has dropped four of its last five games since, including a 9-6 loss to Niagara on Saturday. The Seawolves snapped a four-game skid with a 10-7 victory at Monmouth on Sunday.
A player to watch for Stony Brook is shortstop Mike Villani, who is coming off a strong performance. In Sunday’s win, he went 2 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs. Over his last 10 games, Villani is batting .300 (9 for 30) with five RBIs.
For Siena, right-hander David Siciliano is a key figure on the mound. In his last start against Niagara, he allowed two earned runs on seven hits over 4 2/3 innings, striking out five. In four appearances this season, he has a 1-1 record with a 9.00 ERA.
Both teams have struggled overall this season. Stony Brook’s offense averages 3.7 runs per game, while Siena’s pitching staff carries a collective 8.34 ERA.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projected final score is Siena 4, Stony Brook 3.
Following Tuesday’s contest, Siena opens a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference series at Marist on Friday. Stony Brook begins a Colonial Athletic Association series at home against Towson on Friday.
