Le Moyne at Binghamton
Preview: Le Moyne Dolphins at Binghamton Bearcats
ALBANY, N.Y. (Interstat) — The Binghamton Bearcats, fresh off a series win, host the struggling Le Moyne Dolphins in a non-conference matchup Tuesday at Varsity Field.
First pitch is scheduled for the evening, with cloudy skies and a temperature near 38 degrees forecast.
Binghamton (8-11) enters with momentum after taking two of three from Massachusetts-Lowell, including a 14-10 victory Sunday. Second baseman Sean Sweeney has been a key catalyst, driving in seven runs over the last two games. He went 3 for 4 with three RBIs in the series finale.
Le Moyne (4-14) seeks to halt a three-game skid after being swept at Wagner over the weekend. The Dolphins fell 9-7 on Sunday despite a strong relief outing from Jack Molini, who threw 3 1/3 hitless innings with four strikeouts. Molini has not allowed a hit in his last four appearances, spanning 6 1/3 innings.
The Bearcats’ offense, which averaged 10 runs per game in the Lowell series, will test a Le Moyne pitching staff that has a team ERA of 8.66. Binghamton’s recent surge followed a 1-5 stretch on the road.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-5 Binghamton victory, with its ELO rating system giving the Bearcats a 64.4% probability to win.
This is a single-game meeting between the programs. Binghamton continues its homestand Sunday against Seton Hall. Le Moyne opens a three-game series against Coppin State on Friday.
