PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — La Salle’s pitching staff combined for a three-hit shutout as the Explorers defeated Penn 8-0 on Tuesday evening at Hank DeVincent Field.

Five Explorers relievers — Chase Forester, Lucas Edwards, Shawn Karpaitis, Connor Collora and Matt DeStefanis — followed the starter with 9 1/3 hitless innings. Daniel Perez provided the key offensive blow with a three-run double in the fourth inning.

The Quakers were shut out on just three hits. The result defied pregame projections that heavily favored Penn. La Salle evened its record at 12-12, while Penn fell to 7-11.
