UMBC, Coppin State Set for Midweek Clash in Elkridge
ELKRIDGE, Md. (March 24, 2026) (Interstat) — The UMBC Retrievers and Coppin State Eagles will meet in a non-conference midweek matchup Tuesday evening at Joe Cannon Stadium.
First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. under cloudy skies with temperatures near 57 degrees.
UMBC (9-9) enters at .500 after dropping a weekend series finale to Maine, 4-3, on Sunday. The Retrievers had won the first two games of that set. Coppin State (3-15) snapped a five-game skid with a wild 17-16 victory over Maryland-Eastern Shore on Sunday.
A key matchup will feature UMBC starting pitcher Brady LeJeuneDeAcutis against Coppin State’s offense, led by shortstop Marcus Sanders. LeJeuneDeAcutis has been sharp recently, allowing just one earned run over his last 13 2/3 innings, including six scoreless frames in Sunday’s loss. Sanders is coming off a 3-for-4, four-RBI performance in the Eagles’ Sunday win.
The Retrievers’ offense is paced by outfielder Danny Orr, who went 3-for-5 with a home run in the most recent game. For Coppin State, Pedro Agosto and Agustin Murillo, who combined for six hits and five RBIs on Sunday, provide support behind Sanders.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, UMBC is projected to win 6-3.
The game is a final tune-up before both teams open conference play this weekend. UMBC travels to America East foe Albany for a three-game series beginning Friday. Coppin State opens Northeast Conference play at Le Moyne, also starting Friday.
