McKee’s Six No-Hit Innings, Burress’ Two Homers Lead Georgia Tech to Rout of Clemson
CLEMSON, S.C. (Interstat) — Tate McKee threw six no-hit innings and Drew Burress launched two home runs as Georgia Tech dominated fifth-ranked Clemson 10-0 on Thursday in an Atlantic Coast Conference opener.
McKee (2-0) struck out seven and walked two, combining with Jake Lankie on a two-hit shutout. The Yellow Jackets (14-2, 1-0 ACC) broke open a scoreless game with a 10-run outburst, sending 14 men to bat in the fifth inning. Burress drove in three runs, while Vahn Lackey added a two-run homer.
Clemson (15-3, 0-1) managed just two singles, both off Lankie in the eighth, and was shut out for the first time this season. The Tigers entered as favorites but were overwhelmed after Georgia Tech chased starter Justin LeGuernic (2-1) in the fifth.
