River Hawks Unleash 22-Hit Barrage to Rout Dons

SAN FRANCISCO (Interstat) — Massachusetts-Lowell erupted for 18 runs on 22 hits to pound San Francisco 18-7 in a nonconference baseball game Saturday evening at Dante Benedetti Diamond.

The River Hawks scored four times in the first inning and never looked back, avenging a loss to the Dons a day earlier. Rowan Masse led the onslaught, going 4 for 5 with four RBIs and four runs. Nicholas Solorzano also drove in four on a 4-for-6 afternoon, while Sean O’Leary homered.

San Francisco’s Jackson Nystrom hit a two-run pinch-hit homer in the seventh. The Dons used six pitchers, but starter Cal Amborn took the loss. Brian Foley earned the win for Massachusetts-Lowell despite allowing four earned runs over 4 2/3 innings.

The River Hawks improved to 2-6. The Dons fell to 7-6. The teams meet again Sunday.
