Louisiana Tech at South Alabama

Rain Threatens Saturday Showdown Between Jaguars and Bulldogs

MOBILE, Ala. (Interstat) — A wet forecast looms over Eddie Stanky Field as the South Alabama Jaguars host the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs in the second game of their weekend series Saturday.

First pitch is scheduled for the afternoon, though evening weather could impact play with a forecast of 80 degrees and rain.

The Jaguars (10-3) look to build on their strong start after an 11-1 rout of UAB on Tuesday. South Alabama’s offense has been potent, scoring 21 runs in a game last weekend. A player to watch is right-hander Hayden O’Dell, who delivered five strong innings with eight strikeouts in that win over UAB.

Louisiana Tech (8-6) aims to rebound after dropping its last four games, including an 8-2 loss to Arkansas State on Wednesday and an 8-0 defeat to open this series against South Alabama on Friday. Bulldogs reliever Thomas Allen has been a bright spot, posting a 2.08 ERA with 12 strikeouts over his last 8.2 innings across three appearances.

The Bulldogs’ recent skid follows a 5-1 start to the season. South Alabama has won seven of its last eight.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-4 victory for South Alabama.

If weather permits, the series finale is set for Sunday afternoon.
