Purdue Edges Oregon in Pitchers’ Duel Behind Erdman’s Start
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Interstat) — Zach Erdman threw five scoreless innings and the Purdue bullpen held on as the Boilermakers defeated Oregon 2-1 in a Big Ten baseball game Saturday evening at Alexander Field.
Aaron Manias delivered a two-run single in the third inning for Purdue’s only runs. Oregon’s Gabe Miranda hit a solo home run in the eighth for the Ducks’ lone score. Oregon starter Collin Clarke was the hard-luck loser, allowing two earned runs over eight innings despite giving up no hits, as the two runs scored on walks and Manias’s single.
Purdue improved to 9-4. Oregon fell to 11-3. The teams conclude their series Sunday.
