Staiano, Bullpen Lead Elon to Series-Evening Win Over North Carolina A&T
ELON, N.C. (Interstat) — Elon rallied from an early three-run deficit to defeat North Carolina A&T 8-3 in a Colonial Athletic Association baseball game Saturday at Walter C. Latham Park.
The Aggies struck in the first inning on an RBI single by Bradshaw and a two-run single by Wyche. The Phoenix chipped away, tying it on RBI hits from Jared Hall, who finished with two RBIs. Elon took the lead for good with a two-run fifth, capitalizing on a fielding error, and added three in the seventh, with Brian DuRoff driving in a run and two more scoring on wild pitches.
Elon reliever Michael Staiano earned the win with four scoreless innings and five strikeouts. North Carolina A&T’s Jordan Bright struck out seven over four hitless innings but allowed two runs. Elon evened its record at 7-7, while North Carolina A&T fell to 3-11. The series concludes Sunday.
