Queens (NC) at Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. (Interstat) — The Georgia Bulldogs, riding a strong start to the season, host the Queens (NC) Royals in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday at Athens Olympic Indoor Hall.

First pitch is scheduled for Saturday afternoon under cloudy skies with temperatures near 67 degrees.

The Bulldogs (11-3) enter with a potent offense, having scored 10 or more runs in six of their wins this season. They are looking to bounce back from a 10-9 midweek loss to Western Carolina. Catcher Daniel Jackson has been a key force, hitting .452 (14-for-31) with five home runs and 18 RBIs over Georgia’s last eight games, including a 3-for-4, four-RBI performance in Wednesday’s defeat.

The Royals (4-8) aim to snap a four-game skid, most recently a 9-2 loss at North Carolina State on Wednesday. They will rely on right-hander Adrian Quezada, who is coming off a tough outing against the Wolfpack where he allowed five earned runs over 6 2/3 innings despite striking out seven. In his previous start on Feb. 25, Quezada earned the win in a 9-8 victory at South Carolina.

Georgia holds a significant edge in recent performance and the all-time series, having defeated Queens 8-0 just Friday.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-3 victory for the home team.

The second game of the doubleheader will follow approximately 45 minutes after the conclusion of the opener. The series concludes with a single game Sunday.
