Quinnipiac at UNC Greensboro
GREENSBORO, N.C. (Interstat) — The UNC Greensboro Spartans will look to build on their most decisive win of the season when they host the Quinnipiac Bobcats in an afternoon matchup Saturday at UNCG Baseball Stadium.
The game is set for first pitch under cloudy skies with temperatures near 80 degrees.
UNC Greensboro (5-8) is coming off a 13-1 road victory over North Carolina A&T on Tuesday, a game in which starter Isaac Miles threw five scoreless innings, allowing no hits. Miles is a player to watch for the Spartans and could be a key factor out of the bullpen.
Quinnipiac (2-7) seeks to end a four-game skid after being swept last weekend at East Tennessee State and dropping Friday’s series opener here. The Bobcats’ recent struggles have been anchored by pitching, having allowed 16 runs in each of their last two losses.
A bright spot for Quinnipiac has been starter Andrew Rubayo, who is coming off a strong six-inning, two-run performance against North Florida on Feb. 21. He followed that with a five-inning start at ETSU where he did not allow a hit, though he was charged with four earned runs.
The Spartans took the series opener Friday, shutting out the Bobcats. According to Interstat’s game simulator, another close contest is projected for Saturday, with a predicted final score of UNC Greensboro 4, Quinnipiac 3.
Following Saturday’s game, the teams will conclude the three-game series Sunday afternoon.
