Manhattan at Marist
Baseball Preview: Manhattan at Marist
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (March 7, 2026) (Interstat) — The Manhattan Jaspers and Marist Red Foxes will continue their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference series Saturday at James J. McCann Baseball Field.
First pitch is scheduled for the afternoon. The weather forecast calls for cloudy skies and a temperature of 38 degrees.
Manhattan (5-5) evened its record by shutting out Marist on Friday. The Jaspers will look to build on that momentum behind a player to watch, Jacob Smoot. The pitcher has been dominant in recent relief appearances, throwing four hitless, scoreless innings with four strikeouts in a win over Maryland-Eastern Shore on March 1.
Marist (0-10) is still searching for its first win of the season. The Red Foxes were routed 18-1 at Purdue in their last outing. A bright spot in that loss was reliever Hayden Neihoff, who recorded a strikeout in 0.2 hitless innings. Neihoff is a player to watch for the struggling Red Foxes.
The Jaspers’ most recent result was a 2-8 loss at Maryland-Eastern Shore on March 1, where pitchers Andrew Castelluccio, Will Pires and Arnav Ghuliani combined for 4.2 scoreless innings of relief.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projected final score is Manhattan 5, Marist 0.
This is the second game of the series. The teams will conclude the three-game set Sunday in Poughkeepsie.
Manhattan’s next game is at Marist on Sunday. Marist’s next game is the same matchup.
