Preview: Michigan Wolverines at Pepperdine Waves
MALIBU, Calif. (Interstat) — The Michigan Wolverines and Pepperdine Waves will meet for the rubber match of their three-game series Saturday afternoon at Eddy D. Field Stadium.
First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. EDT under cloudy skies with a temperature near 67 degrees.
The series is tied after a split of the first two games. Pepperdine (3-10) won a wild 9-8 contest Friday afternoon, one day after Michigan (7-6) posted a decisive 17-4 victory.
A player to watch for the Wolverines is right-hander Cade Montgomery, who is slated to start. Montgomery took the loss Friday despite not allowing a hit over 5 2/3 innings; he was charged with five earned runs, issuing seven walks with one strikeout. In his last three outings, he has an 11.25 ERA.
Pepperdine’s offense will look to first baseman Danny Cook, who powered Friday’s win. Cook went 3 for 4 with two home runs and two RBIs. He is 6 for 19 (.316) with two homers and six RBIs over his last seven games.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-2 victory for Michigan.
The Wolverines continue their road trip at UCLA next weekend. Pepperdine travels to Cal State Northridge on Monday.
