Florida A&M Rallies Past Villanova for 6‑5 Victory in Tallahassee
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Interstat) — Jay Campbell’s two-run homer sparked a comeback as Florida A&M rallied to defeat Villanova 6-5 on Saturday afternoon at Mike Martin Field at Dick Howser Stadium.
The Rattlers, who trailed 5-1, scored five unanswered runs. Campbell’s blast in the fifth inning cut the deficit, and his go-ahead RBI single in the sixth completed the rally. He finished with three RBIs.
Villanova built its early lead on two-run singles from JoJo Montgomery and Mark Gialluisi. Starter Jack Kelley took the loss despite a no-hit effort over 4 2/3 innings, undone by four earned runs on walks and errors.
Florida A&M’s Tanner Walker earned the win with five strong innings of relief, allowing one earned run and striking out five. The Rattlers improved to 5-9, while the Wildcats fell to 3-8. The teams conclude their series Sunday.
