Davis Powers Blue Hens to Rout of Golden Griffins

NEWARK, Del. (Interstat) — Vincent Davis homered twice and drove in five runs Saturday as Delaware pounded Canisius 14-1 at Bob Hannah Stadium, avenging a loss from the previous day.

The Blue Hens (6-9) erupted for eight runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by a three-run homer from Davis and another three-run shot from Matthew Minckler. Davis finished 3 for 5. Delaware starter Chase Deibler earned the win, allowing one earned run over four innings.

Canisius (3-8) scored its lone run on a first-inning sacrifice fly and managed just two hits total. The Golden Griffins used six pitchers, but Trent Rudge was the only one to throw a scoreless inning.

The teams conclude their three-game series Sunday afternoon.
