CORVALLIS, Ore. (Interstat) — Dax Whitney struck out 11 over 6 1/3 dominant innings Friday, leading Oregon State to a 4-2 win over Xavier at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.

The Beavers, now 8-4, scored all four runs in the second inning. Bryce Hubbard hit a solo homer and Adam Haight added a two-run single. Xavier pitchers Evan Vasiliou and Ryan Piech combined for eight no-hit innings in relief, but the Musketeers (5-8) managed only three hits total. Their runs came on solo homers from Landon Mensik and pinch-hitter Tommy Townsend.

Whitney allowed just two hits and one earned run, continuing a stellar stretch after fanning 11 in his previous start. Wyatt Queen earned the save for Oregon State.
