Oregon Stays Perfect, Powers Past Arizona in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (Interstat) — The ninth-ranked Oregon Ducks remained undefeated, overpowering the Arizona Wildcats 7-2 on Friday at T-Mobile Arena.

Oregon improved to 9-0 behind a powerful offense and dominant pitching. Jax Gimenez and Ryan Cooney hit solo and two-run homers, respectively, in the early innings. Angel Laya broke the game open with a three-run shot in the fifth.

Arizona scored both of its runs in the fourth on a two-out error by Oregon left fielder Gimenez. The Wildcats managed just five hits and fell to 1-8.

Oregon starter Tanner Bradley set the tone, striking out nine over 4 1/3 scoreless innings. Relievers Will Sanford and Ryan Featherston combined for 10 strikeouts over the final 4 2/3 frames.
