NORFOLK, Va. (Interstat) — Old Dominion shut out Norfolk State 15-0 in a Wednesday game at Bud Metheny Baseball Complex that spanned the afternoon and evening.

The Monarchs (6-2) amassed nine hits and capitalized on Spartan (2-5) pitching for multiple big innings, including a seven-run fourth. Zach Leite drove in three runs, while Macaddin Dye and Tyler Zedalis each had two of Old Dominion’s nine hits. Norfolk State managed only three hits total.

The lopsided result far exceeded the Interstat simulator’s projection of a 7-3 Monarchs victory. Old Dominion, which had a 91% win probability per ELO ratings, has won four of its last five.

The Monarchs host Charlotte for a three-game series starting Friday. Norfolk State welcomes Mount Saint Mary’s for a three-game set the same day.
