Patrick Fultz Powers Wright State Past Kent State With Two Home Runs
DAYTON, Ohio (Interstat) — Patrick Fultz broke out of a slump with two home runs and three RBIs to lead Wright State to an 8-1 victory over Kent State in a nonconference baseball game Wednesday evening at Woerner Field.
Fultz, who was hitless in his previous eight at-bats, homered in the second and fifth innings. His first was a two-run shot that gave the Raiders a lead they would not relinquish. Wright State scored four runs in the third inning, highlighted by a two-run double from JP Peltier.
Four Wright State pitchers combined to limit the Golden Flashes to just four hits. Starter J.J. Thompson and relievers Chet Lax and Michael Bilo each threw scoreless outings. Kent State’s lone run came on a bases-loaded walk in the seventh.
The win improved Wright State to 2-5, while Kent State fell to 5-3.
