Campbell at UNC Wilmington
WILMINGTON, N.C. (Interstat) — Campbell and UNC Wilmington will meet Saturday evening at Brooks Field in a Colonial Athletic Association baseball clash, with the visiting Fightin Camels looking to complete a series sweep after winning the first two games.
Campbell (38-15) has already secured the series with a 6-3 victory Friday and a 16-12 slugfest Thursday. The Fightin Camels hold a 3-2 edge in the season series, having taken two of three at home in April before dropping the opener.
UNC Wilmington (27-24) will try to salvage the finale behind right-hander Tj Ziermann, who allowed two earned runs over 4.1 innings in Friday’s loss. Ziermann has been effective in longer outings this season, logging four scoreless innings against High Point on May 5 and five strikeouts over two hitless frames against Elon on April 25. The Seahawks have lost four of their last five.
Campbell’s offense has been explosive, averaging 11 runs over the last two games. Jett Music, a two-way player, has been the catalyst, going 4-for-8 with three home runs and six RBIs in the series. Music also pitched a scoreless two-thirds of an inning in Thursday’s win. For the season, he has been a force at the plate, with multi-homer games against Charlotte and North Carolina A&T in early May.
The Fightin Camels’ pitching staff has been sharp, particularly in Friday’s win when Owen Simmons and David Rossow combined for six shutout innings.
First pitch is set for 6 p.m. The forecast calls for clear skies and a temperature of 76 degrees.
Interstat’s game simulator projects an 8-4 Campbell victory, giving the Fightin Camels a 52 percent probability of winning according to its ELO system.
Campbell leads the all-time series and has won four of the last five meetings. The Fightin Camels are seeking their 39th win, while UNC Wilmington is fighting to stay above .500.
