Ohio State at Michigan

ANN ARBOR (Interstat) — Noah Furcht homered twice and drove in four runs to lead Ohio State to a 13-2 victory over Michigan on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Ray Fisher Stadium in a Big Ten conference game.

The Buckeyes improved to 27-23 overall while the Wolverines fell to 32-20. Ohio State pounded out 11 hits, took advantage of two Michigan errors and four hit batters, and broke the game open with a seven-run seventh inning. Michigan managed six hits but grounded into two double plays.

Ohio State took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a walk to Henry Kaczmar and a single by Dane Harvey, but the Buckeyes left two runners on base. Starting pitcher Pierce Herrenbruck worked around a walk and a hit batter in the bottom of the first, and the game remained scoreless into the second.

Michigan struck in the bottom of the second inning. Singles by Kyle Miller and Ethan Ladehoff and a walk to Colin Stressler loaded the bases. After a fielder’s choice cut down a runner at home, Greg was hit by a pitch to force in the first run. Ohio State escaped further damage when shortstop Kaczmar turned a double play to end the inning with Michigan ahead 1-0.

The Buckeyes answered in the fourth. Harvey launched his 18th home run of the season to left-center field, tying the game 1-1. The inning stalled when Simpson reached on a dropped third strike but was left stranded.

Ohio State grabbed the lead in the fifth. Bemis walked, and Kaczmar followed with his 11th home run of the season to right field, making it 3-1. Harvey then hit his second homer of the game, a solo shot to deep center, his 19th, to extend the lead to 4-1. Michigan changed pitchers, replacing starter Kurt Barr with Wyatt Novara, but the damage was done. Barr allowed four earned runs on four hits over 4 2/3 innings while striking out 10.

Michigan cut the lead to 4-2 in the bottom of the fifth. Turner doubled to deep center, and Jefferis singled through the left side to drive him in. Herrenbruck otherwise held the Wolverines in check, finishing with six innings, zero hits allowed, two earned runs and four strikeouts. He benefited from two double plays turned by the Buckeyes defense.

The decisive rally came in the seventh. Furcht led off with his first home run of the game, a solo shot to left-center, his 10th of the season, making it 5-2. After Harvey and Simpson were hit by pitches, Ellis singled through the left side to drive in Harvey. Mangrum walked, and Vandenheuvel singled to right to drive in two more runs. After Bemis walked to load the bases, Kaczmar lifted a sacrifice fly to center for another run. Furcht then capped the inning with a three-run homer to left field, his 11th of the season, giving Ohio State a 13-2 lead. Michigan used four pitchers in the inning, including Tyler Finkbeiner, who allowed one earned run in 2/3 of an inning.

Ryan Zamora pitched a scoreless seventh inning for the Buckeyes, striking out one.

Dane Harvey finished 3 for 4 with two home runs and two RBIs. Kaczmar went 1 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs. Miles Vandenheuvel added two hits and two RBIs. For Michigan, Brayden Jefferis had two hits and an RBI. Kurt Barr struck out 10 in 4 2/3 innings but took the loss.
