YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (Interstat) — Ryan Schummer drove in three runs with a home run in the third inning as Youngstown State beat Milwaukee 4-3 on Saturday. The Penguins improved to 12-37, while the Panthers fell to 18-31.

Schummer went 2 for 4 and accounted for all of Youngstown State’s runs. His three-run blast to right field capped a four-run third inning that gave the Penguins a 4-3 lead. Nathan Beckley had earlier doubled in a run. All four Youngstown State runs were unearned.

Milwaukee starter Aric Ehmke pitched seven innings without allowing a hit, striking out eight, but did not factor in the decision. The Panthers scored on solo homers by Dominic Kibler and Tate Schmidt in the fifth, and a sacrifice fly by Bradyn Horn in the seventh.

Jack Messmore earned the win, allowing three earned runs on six hits over seven innings while striking out seven. Bryce Palms got the save with 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Schummer has homered in three of his last four games.
