Indiana Hoosiers top Louisville Cardinals behind Linn’s gem

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Interstat) — Conner Linn threw five innings of no-hit ball with two strikeouts, leading Indiana to a 10-6 victory over Louisville on Tuesday at Jim Patterson Stadium.

Linn, who had a rough outing earlier this month against Abilene Christian, retired all 15 batters he faced. The Hoosiers built a quick lead, scoring five runs in the third inning, capped by Fry’s two-run single and a wild pitch that brought him home. Cooper Malamazian went 3-for-3 with an RBI, and Jake Hanley added a homer and two hits.

Louisville’s Jimmy Nugent homered in the sixth, and Lucas Moore tripled in a run during the eighth, but the Cardinals could not overcome the deficit. Louisville made two sacrifice flies in the seventh. Anthony Gubitosi tossed a perfect eighth for Indiana.

Indiana improved to 20-25 overall; Louisville fell to 26-19. The Hoosiers next visit Northwestern, while the Cardinals travel to Wake Forest.
