Trojans Rally From 10-Run Deficit to Stun Vaqueros
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Interstat) — Arkansas-Little Rock erased a 10-run first-inning deficit to defeat Texas-Rio Grande Valley 15-10 on Wednesday at Mims Gym.
The Trojans (25-17) scored nine runs in the third inning to storm back after the Vaqueros (17-23) sent 14 batters to the plate in a 10-run top of the first. Jerdy Lopez led Arkansas-Little Rock, going 5 for 6 with three RBIs. Thomas Williams had three hits and three RBIs for Texas-Rio Grande Valley.
Five Trojans relievers combined for 7 1/3 innings of two-run ball after the early outburst to secure the series sweep. The comeback defied a pregame projection that favored the Vaqueros.
