UAB Blazes Past Alabama in Lopsided Rivalry Rematch

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (Interstat) — UAB erupted for 11 runs in the first inning and cruised to an 11-2 victory over Alabama on Tuesday night at Sewell-Thomas Stadium, avenging a loss to the Crimson Tide from just a week prior.

The Blazers sent 15 batters to the plate in the opening frame, capitalizing on three Alabama errors to build an insurmountable lead. Alex Dupuy drove in three runs for UAB, which finished with 11 hits. Alabama’s only offense came on a two-run homer by John Lemm in the sixth.

UAB pitchers Isaac Warrick, Brooks House and Riley Miller combined for 7 1/3 hitless innings of relief. The Blazers improved to 26-15, while the 28-14 Crimson Tide saw a three-game winning streak snapped.
