Oral Roberts at South Dakota State

Preview: Oral Roberts at South Dakota State

BROOKINGS, S.D. (Interstat) — The Oral Roberts Golden Eagles will look to complete a road sweep of the South Dakota State Jackrabbits in a Summit League series finale Sunday afternoon at Erv Huether Field.

First pitch is scheduled for Sunday, April 19, 2026, under clear skies with game-time temperatures expected near 42 degrees.

Oral Roberts (22-14, 5-3 Summit) has dominated the first two games of the series, winning 8-4 on Friday and 18-2 on Saturday. The Golden Eagles have taken all five meetings between the teams this season and carry significant momentum into the weekend finale.

A player to watch for Oral Roberts is reliever Maddox Thornton. The right-hander has been effective lately, including four hitless innings with three strikeouts in Friday’s win over the Jackrabbits. Over his last six appearances, he has allowed just three earned runs in 13 innings.

South Dakota State (11-23, 3-8) seeks to salvage a game from the series and halt a three-game skid. The Jackrabbits will look to reliever Ty Madison, who provided two scoreless innings against the Golden Eagles on Friday. Madison has not allowed a hit in three of his last four outings.

Despite the Jackrabbits’ struggles, Interstat’s game simulator projects a close contest, forecasting a 7-5 victory for Oral Roberts.

The Golden Eagles have won seven of their last ten games. After Sunday, they travel to face Oklahoma on Tuesday before hosting North Dakota State next weekend.

South Dakota State, after the series concludes, will have a week off before beginning a three-game home series against Northern Colorado on April 24.
