MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (Interstat) — Jack Griffiths struck out seven over six strong innings and Bryson Webb homered as Central Michigan routed Youngstown State 12-2 on Wednesday evening at Bill Theunissen Stadium.

The Chippewas scored four times in the first inning and never trailed, amassing 15 hits. Webb went 3 for 4 with a two-run homer in the third and scored three times. Cole Prout added two RBIs.

Griffiths allowed just two hits and one earned run to earn the win for Central Michigan (13-19). Aidan Dorsch took the loss for the Penguins (5-30), who managed only three hits. Youngstown State scored on a sacrifice fly by Misael Uriepero and a wild pitch.

The victory exceeded the Interstat game simulator’s projection of a 3-2 Central Michigan win.
