Swift’s Grand Slam Powers Lumberjacks’ Offensive Surge in Rout of Braves
NACOGDOCHES, Texas (Interstat) — Julian Swift hit a grand slam and drove in five runs Wednesday evening as Stephen F. Austin stormed back from an early deficit to pound Alcorn State 16-8 at Jaycees Field.
The Lumberjacks (21-16) trailed 8-1 before erupting for four runs in the first inning, highlighted by Evan Aslaksen’s three-run homer. Swift’s fourth-inning slam capped a six-run frame that put the game out of reach. He finished 2 for 4.
Nico Garcia drove in three runs for the Braves (3-29), who tallied eight hits but could not sustain their early lead. Five Stephen F. Austin relievers, led by Jonathan Valdez and Andrew Wenske, combined for 8 2/3 innings of two-run ball after Hayden Tronson’s rough start.
