SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (Interstat) — The Merrimack Warriors built an early five-run lead and their bullpen delivered six perfect innings of relief in a 5-2 victory over the Rhode Island Rams on Wednesday evening at Bill Beck Field.

Merrimack scored once in the first on Joey Frammartino’s RBI single and added another in the second on a solo home run by Jack Andrews. They extended the lead to 5-0 in the fifth.

Rhode Island’s Ryan Thompson went 3 for 3, hitting a solo homer in the fifth and adding a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch RBI in the eighth. That was all the Rams could muster as six Merrimack relievers combined for six hitless innings after the fifth, striking out seven.

Merrimack improved to 14-19. Rhode Island fell to 15-20.
