Seawolves Overwhelm Jaspers in Midweek Rout

STONY BROOK, N.Y. (Interstat) — The Stony Brook Seawolves erupted for seven runs in the first two innings and cruised to a 12-1 victory over the Manhattan Jaspers on Tuesday evening at Joe Nathan Field.

Stony Brook (12-21) capitalized on early opportunities, scoring three times in the first inning and four more in the second, aided by two Manhattan errors. Nick Zampieron led the Seawolves’ 11-hit attack, going 2 for 2 with a triple, three RBIs and two runs scored. Chanz Doughty and Mike Cervoni each added a home run.

Manhattan (13-18) managed just five hits, scoring its lone run on a second-inning sacrifice fly by Hayden Jung-Goldberg. Four Stony Brook pitchers combined on the win, with starter Ty Panariello earning the victory after three scoreless innings.

The result defied a national projection that had favored Manhattan in a narrow contest.
