South Alabama Outlasts Georgia Southern in High-Scoring Sun Belt Affair
STATESBORO, Ga. (Interstat) — Robert Miranda homered and drove in four runs as South Alabama survived a furious Georgia Southern rally for a 13-12 victory in a Sun Belt Conference baseball game Sunday at J.I. Clements Stadium.
The Jaguars (21-15) built a 13-0 lead by the sixth inning, powered by Miranda’s two-run double in the fourth and a two-run homer in the sixth. Ethan Melton added three hits and two RBIs.
The Eagles (12-23) stormed back with a nine-run outburst over the seventh and eighth innings. Jack Myers hit a three-run homer and Brady Christman added a three-run shot, but the comeback fell short. Brian Garmon earned the save with 1 2/3 scoreless innings of relief for South Alabama.
