South Alabama at Georgia Southern
STATESBORO, Ga. (Interstat) — The South Alabama Jaguars and Georgia Southern Eagles will meet Sunday afternoon at J. I. Clements Stadium to decide their Sun Belt Conference series, which is tied after a split of the first two games.
First pitch is scheduled for Sunday, April 12, 2026, under clear skies with a game-time temperature of 79 degrees.
The Jaguars (20-15) evened the series with a 13-5 rout on Saturday, powered by a big day from left fielder Rett Johnson. He went 3 for 5 with two home runs and four RBIs. Johnson is 5 for 7 in the series after a 2-for-2 performance in Friday’s 5-3 loss.
Georgia Southern (12-22) won the opener behind designated hitter Brady Christman, who had a home run and three RBIs in the 5-3 victory. Christman homered again in Saturday’s loss, giving him two homers and five RBIs in the series.
The Eagles will look to Christman to help salvage the series finale and build momentum before a tough road stretch. Despite their overall record, the Eagles have shown they can compete at home, having taken the first game of this set.
South Alabama, which holds a significant edge in the overall season record, has seen inconsistent results lately but possesses potent offensive threats. Beyond Johnson, catcher Duncan Mathews drove in four runs on Saturday, and reliever Zach Stevens delivered three perfect innings with four strikeouts.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-3 victory for Georgia Southern in the finale.
Following Sunday’s game, South Alabama returns home to host Nicholls State on Tuesday before a Sun Belt series against Marshall. Georgia Southern travels to face in-state foe Georgia Tech on Tuesday before a conference series at Old Dominion.
