Brown Bears, Dartmouth Big Green Set for Ivy League Rubber Match

HANOVER, N.H. (Interstat) — The Brown Bears and Dartmouth Big Green will settle their weekend series in an Ivy League matchup Sunday afternoon at Red Rolfe Field at Biondi Park.

First pitch is scheduled for the evening, with cloudy skies and temperatures near 49 degrees forecast.

The series is tied after a split of Saturday’s doubleheader. Dartmouth (6-18) shut out Brown 4-0 in the opener before the Bears (14-13) responded with a 13-3 victory.

Sunday’s pitching matchup features two of the conference’s top arms. Brown will send right-hander Drew Nelson to the mound. Nelson has been dominant, allowing just three earned runs over his last 30 innings pitched across four starts. In his last outing on April 4, he threw eight scoreless innings in a win over Harvard.

He will face Dartmouth right-hander Nate Isler, who earned the win in Saturday’s shutout, scattering four hits over six innings with five strikeouts. Isler has shown swing-and-miss stuff, recording 22 strikeouts in his last 19 1/3 innings, but has been prone to occasional command lapses.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, Brown is projected to win 8-2. The same outlet’s ELO rating system gives the Bears a narrow 50.40% probability to win.

Brown seeks to climb above .500 in league play, while Dartmouth aims to secure a rare series victory in a challenging season. Following the game, Brown hosts Holy Cross on Tuesday. Dartmouth is scheduled to host Siena on Wednesday.
