Christman’s Walk-Off Homer Lifts Georgia Southern Past South Alabama

STATESBORO, Ga. (Interstat) — Brady Christman launched a three-run, walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth inning Friday to give Georgia Southern a 5-3 victory over South Alabama in Sun Belt Conference baseball at J. I. Clements Stadium.

The Eagles’ designated hitter drove a pitch deep to left field with two runners on, erasing a one-run deficit and snapping a three-game skid. His fifth homer of the season scored Bryson Trammell, who had a two-run shot in the fourth.

South Alabama took an early lead on Stewart Puckett’s first-inning solo homer. Jaguars starter Mitchell Heer was dominant, striking out eight and allowing just two earned runs over 7 2/3 innings, but the bullpen could not hold the lead.

Georgia Southern improved to 12-21. South Alabama fell to 19-15. The teams continue their series Saturday.
