Central Michigan at Bowling Green

Rain in Forecast for MAC Baseball Series Opener in Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (Interstat) — The Bowling Green Falcons and Central Michigan Chippewas are set to open a three-game Mid-American Conference series Friday at Warren E. Steller Field, with wet weather expected for the afternoon start.

First pitch is scheduled for Friday afternoon, though forecasts call for rain and a temperature near 71 degrees.

The Falcons (11-14) enter with momentum from a 9-3 road win over Ohio State on Tuesday. Reliever Ty Roder was dominant in that victory, striking out six over 3 2/3 hitless innings. Over his last five appearances, Roder has allowed just three hits and two earned runs in 12 innings, tallying 11 strikeouts.

Central Michigan (10-17) looks to rebound after a 6-4 loss at Michigan on Tuesday. A bright spot in that defeat was reliever Jack Griffiths, who threw three perfect innings. Griffiths’ recent outings have been volatile, however, including a five-run stint against Eastern Michigan on March 29.

Bowling Green took two of three from Akron last weekend, while Central Michigan split a pair of games with Western Michigan.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-3 Falcons victory, giving Bowling Green a 56.9% probability to win the series opener.

The teams are scheduled to continue the series Saturday and Sunday in Bowling Green.
