Texas Christian at Kansas State

MANHATTAN, Kan. (Interstat) — A pivotal Big 12 series concludes Sunday afternoon at Tointon Family Stadium as the Kansas State Wildcats host the Texas Christian Horned Frogs with both teams carrying identical 19-win records into the rubber match.

First pitch is scheduled for Sunday evening under clear skies with temperatures near 51 degrees.

The series is tied after a pair of high-scoring contests. Kansas State (19-10) won a 13-12 slugfest on Friday, but TCU (19-11) responded with a 9-3 victory Saturday behind a strong start from Lance Davis. The right-hander is expected to take the mound again for the Horned Frogs in the finale. Davis tossed 6 2/3 innings of shutout baseball against the Wildcats just one day ago, allowing only three walks while striking out four. His recent outings have been a mix of dominance and struggle, including a seven-inning, two-hit shutout of UCF on March 21.

Kansas State will counter, looking to its offense to secure the series win. Shortstop Dee Kennedy has been a consistent force, driving in a run in Saturday’s loss after a two-RBI performance in Friday’s win. He is 3-for-6 with three RBIs in the series so far and is coming off a midweek game at BYU where he homered twice and drove in five runs.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, TCU is projected to win a high-scoring affair, 8-6.

Both teams enter Sunday with 19 overall victories. After this series, TCU will travel to face Abilene Christian on Tuesday before hosting Arizona next weekend. Kansas State hits the road for a midweek matchup at Wichita State before welcoming Oklahoma State for a three-game set.
