Fordham at Dayton

Preview: Fordham Rams at Dayton Flyers

DAYTON, Ohio (Interstat) — The Dayton Flyers will look to complete a three-game Atlantic 10 Conference sweep of the Fordham Rams on Sunday at Woerner Field, weather permitting.

First pitch is scheduled for the afternoon, though the forecast calls for rain and a temperature of 77 degrees.

Dayton (17-12, 2-0 A-10) has taken the first two games of the series, winning 5-3 on Friday and 17-9 on Saturday. The Flyers’ offense exploded in the latter victory, pounding out 17 hits.

Fordham (13-16, 0-2) aims to salvage the final game and snap a two-game skid. The Rams have lost four of their last five contests.

A key matchup will feature two of the series’ hottest hitters. Fordham catcher Tommy McAndrews is coming off a perfect 3-for-3 performance Saturday, including a home run and two RBIs. For the series, he is 4-for-7 with a homer and three RBIs.

Dayton third baseman Jason Bello launched two home runs and drove in three runs in Saturday’s win. He has homered in three of his last five games.

Despite Dayton’s recent dominance in the series and superior record, Interstat’s game simulator projects a Fordham victory with a final score of 6-3.

Following Sunday’s game, Fordham returns home to host Manhattan on Tuesday. Dayton travels to face Toledo on Wednesday before hosting Saint Joseph’s next weekend in A-10 play.
