DAYTON, Ohio (Interstat) — Sawyer Jensen struck out eight over six strong innings and Grayson Carpenter hit a go-ahead two-run homer as Dayton rallied to beat Fordham 5-3 in an Atlantic 10 baseball opener Friday evening at Woerner Field.

The Flyers trailed 3-1 before Colin Lynch hit a solo homer in the fourth. Carpenter’s blast to left-center in the fifth put Dayton ahead for good. An RBI bunt single by Dyrenson Wouters provided insurance in the sixth.

Jensen allowed two earned runs on four hits for the win. Fordham’s Tommy Markey had a two-run single in the fourth. Both teams finished with six hits. Dayton improved to 16-12 overall, while Fordham fell to 13-15.
