South Alabama Hosts New Orleans in Midweek Non-Conference Clash
MOBILE, Ala. (March 31, 2026) (Interstat) — The South Alabama Jaguars, riding a potent offense, host the struggling New Orleans Privateers in a non-conference baseball game Tuesday evening at Eddie Stanky Field.
First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. under cloudy skies with a temperature near 74 degrees.
The Jaguars (18-10) enter with momentum after a 12-1, seven-inning rout of Old Dominion on Sunday. First baseman Blake Guerin went 4-for-4 with two home runs in that victory, and left fielder Rett Johnson added three hits and two RBIs.
South Alabama’s projected starter, right-hander Daniel Gonzalez, is coming off a dominant performance. On March 29, he held Old Dominion to one run on four hits over seven innings, striking out nine. In his last three starts, Gonzalez has a 2.45 ERA with 18 strikeouts in 17.1 innings.
The Privateers (11-19) aim to snap a three-game skid after dropping a weekend series at Southeastern Louisiana. They fell 7-5 on Sunday despite a strong relief outing from Skylar Jones, who threw three hitless innings, allowing one earned run.
Jones, a key arm out of the bullpen, has been effective lately, posting a 1.59 ERA over his last five appearances spanning 7.2 innings. Offensively, New Orleans will look to first baseman Kruise Newman, who homered and drove in two runs Sunday.
The teams are heading in opposite directions. South Alabama has won six of its last eight games, while New Orleans has lost 10 of its last 13.
According to Interstat, the Jaguars are heavy favorites. Their game simulator projects a 5-3 South Alabama victory, and its ELO rating system gives the Jaguars a 68.4% probability to win.
Following Tuesday’s game, South Alabama opens Sun Belt Conference play with a three-game series at Coastal Carolina beginning Thursday. New Orleans returns home to host McNeese State in a Southland Conference series starting Thursday.
