Nevada, Gonzaga Set for Non-Conference Clash in Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. (Interstat) — The Nevada Wolf Pack and Gonzaga Bulldogs meet in a non-conference baseball game Monday afternoon at Washington Trust Field at Patterson Baseball Complex.

First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. PDT under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature near 43 degrees.

Nevada (15-9) enters riding momentum from a 12-5 road win at Washington State on Sunday. Gonzaga (12-13) looks to rebound after a 4-7 loss at Pacific on Sunday.

A key matchup will feature Nevada reliever Eric Valdez, who has been dominant of late. In Sunday’s win, Valdez threw four hitless, scoreless innings with seven strikeouts. Over his last five appearances, he has allowed just three earned runs in 12 innings while striking out 16.

Gonzaga will counter with Justin Feld, who started and took the loss Sunday. Feld pitched five innings, allowing three earned runs on no hits with one strikeout. His recent outings have varied, including a scoreless two-inning, three-strikeout performance at Indiana State on March 15.

The Wolf Pack offense erupted for 12 runs on 14 hits Sunday. Junhyuk Kwon went 3-for-6 with a home run and three RBIs, while Rominic Quiban also had three hits and drove in four runs.

For Gonzaga in its last game, Noah Meffert provided two RBIs.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a high-scoring affair, favoring Gonzaga 7-6.

Following Monday’s contest, Nevada travels to face Sacramento State on April 6. Gonzaga opens a three-game West Coast Conference series at home against Pepperdine on April 2.
