Bergman, Fyffe Power Bears to Blowout Win Over Cowboys in Rematch Rout
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (Interstat) — Carter Bergman broke out of a slump with two home runs and six RBIs to lead Missouri State to a 16-2 rout of Oklahoma State on Tuesday night.
Bergman, who was hitless in his previous two games, launched a grand slam in the first inning and added a solo shot in the fourth. Logan Fyffe added a grand slam in the second inning as part of a three-hit, five-RBI night, staking the Bears to an 8-0 lead.
The Bears sent 12 batters to the plate in a seven-run fifth inning. Jason Schaaf earned the win in relief, striking out eight over 2 2/3 scoreless innings. Kollin Ritchie drove in both runs for the Cowboys with a fifth-inning double.
Missouri State improved to 16-7, while Oklahoma State fell to 16-9. The Bears avenged an 8-7 loss to the Cowboys on March 3.
