Evans’ Walk-Off Homer Lifts Lamar Over Tarleton State

BEAUMONT, Texas (Interstat) — Brayden Evans hit a two-run, walk-off homer in the 10th inning Tuesday, lifting Lamar to a 5-3 win over Tarleton State at Vincent-Beck Stadium.

The Cardinals rallied from an early deficit, tying the game at 3 in the fifth inning. The score remained deadlocked until Evans’ game-winning blast, his third of the season, scored Pregeant from first base.

Lamar’s Gage Burdick delivered a key relief performance, pitching four scoreless innings with six strikeouts. The Cardinals’ bullpen combined for 5 1/3 shutout innings.

Tarleton State scored all three of its runs in the sixth inning but stranded 10 baserunners. Lamar improved to 15-10, while the Texans fell to 16-8.
