Tarleton State at Lamar

BEAUMONT, Texas (Interstat) — Two of the Southland Conference’s hottest teams will meet Tuesday when the Tarleton State Texans visit the Lamar Cardinals at Vincent-Beck Stadium.

First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature near 80 degrees.

The Texans (16-7) enter on a four-game winning streak, including a three-game road sweep of Stephen F. Austin capped by a 3-1 victory Sunday. Reliever Aden Lucas was dominant in that win, throwing three hitless innings with four strikeouts. On the season, Lucas has allowed just one earned run over his last six innings of work, emerging as a key arm out of the bullpen.

Tarleton State’s offense has been potent, scoring eight or more runs in seven of its last 11 games.

Lamar (14-10) is coming off a wild, high-scoring series at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, winning three of four. The Cardinals outlasted the Islanders 18-15 in 10 innings on Sunday, powered by a huge day from second baseman Kevin Duran. He went 4 for 7 with a home run and six RBIs in the victory, part of a recent surge where he has driven in nine runs over his last six games.

The Cardinals have won five of their last seven, showing an explosive offense that has produced 10 or more runs four times in March.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a high-scoring affair, predicting an 8-6 victory for the visiting Texans.

Both teams will look to carry momentum into the midweek clash before opening conference series at home this weekend. Tarleton State hosts Air Force for three games starting Friday, while Lamar begins a series with Incarnate Word.
