UAB Blazers Rally From 11-Run Deficit to Stun Jacksonville State

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Interstat) — The UAB Blazers staged a monumental comeback from an 11-run first-inning deficit to defeat the Jacksonville State Gamecocks 16-11 on Tuesday at Jerry D. Young Memorial Field.

Jacksonville State sent 10 batters to the plate in a disastrous first inning for UAB, scoring seven runs, highlighted by Ace Williamson’s three-run homer. The Blazers immediately chipped away, then erupted for five runs in the fifth to tie it, capitalizing on two Gamecocks errors.

UAB shortstop Baylor Roberts led the charge, going 3 for 4 with five RBIs. Max Price added a 3-for-3 day with a homer, and Wesley Helms also homered. Relievers Riley Miller and Chase Ingram combined for five scoreless innings for UAB.

The Blazers improved to 15-10. The Gamecocks, who had 10 hits, fell to 21-5.
