Hornets Unleash Offensive Onslaught to Rout Tigers
STOCKTON, Calif. (Interstat) — Brett Ott homered and drove in five runs Sunday evening as Sacramento State pounded Pacific 18-6 at Klein Family Field to earn a series split.
The Hornets (7-13) erupted for 18 hits, scoring seven runs in the second inning and five more in the seventh. Ott, who finished 3 for 4, highlighted the offensive barrage with a three-run homer. Erick Dessens added a three-run shot and four RBIs, while Jace Jeremiah drove in four runs.
Pacific (8-11) managed just seven hits. Payton Richards hit a three-run homer in the third inning for the Tigers.
Sacramento State pitchers Trevor Wilson, Carson Timothy and Colin Hunter combined for seven hitless innings of relief, striking out nine. The victory followed a Interstat projection that favored the Hornets but predicted a low-scoring affair.
