Alcorn State at Alabama A&M

SOUTHWESTERN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE SERIES FINALE SET FOR SUNDAY

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Interstat) — The Alcorn State Braves and Alabama A&M Bulldogs will conclude a three-game Southwestern Athletic Conference series Sunday at Bulldog Field.

First pitch is scheduled for the afternoon under clear skies with a game-time temperature near 73 degrees.

The series is tied after a split of the first two games. Alabama A&M (4-14, 1-1 SWAC) won 10-3 on Friday before Alcorn State (2-15, 1-1) evened it with an 8-6 victory Saturday.

A key rematch is on the mound. Alcorn State’s Kayden Sutton, who earned the win Saturday with 7 2/3 innings of relief, allowing four earned runs, could be available again. The Braves’ bullpen was preserved as starter Hayden Konkler recorded just one out before Sutton entered.

For Alabama A&M, infielder Bryan Walker will look to build on his three-RBI performance in Saturday’s loss. He drove in all three runs with a single in the eighth inning.

Both teams have struggled this season. The Braves have lost 15 of 17, though Saturday’s win snapped a five-game skid. The Bulldogs have dropped 14 of 18 but took the series opener convincingly.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projected final score is Alabama A&M 2, Alcorn State 0.

Following Sunday’s finale, Alabama A&M travels to face UAB on Tuesday. Alcorn State’s next action is a three-game home series against Bethune-Cookman beginning Friday.
