Dirtbags Edge Warriors in Big West Slugfest
LONG BEACH, Calif. (Interstat) — Dylan Lina’s three-run homer in the first inning propelled Long Beach State to a 7-6 victory over Hawaii in a Big West Conference baseball game Saturday at Blair Field.
The Dirtbags (5-13, 1-1 Big West) overcame an early deficit, scoring four runs in the first and three more in the third to outlast the Warriors (9-6, 1-1). Lina’s blast to deep left field off starter Tsubasa Tomii highlighted a six-hit Long Beach State attack. Trotter Enright added two RBIs.
Hawaii collected 11 hits, including a solo home run by Gabe Wright in the ninth, but left the tying run on base. Jake Redding and Kody Watanabe each drove in runs for the Warriors. Long Beach State starter Luke Howe earned the win despite allowing five runs over seven innings, and Tyler Gebb secured the save.
